Accessibility Statement

Our commitment to WCAG 2.2 AA, what the studio implements today, and how to report an accessibility barrier.

Painting should be for everyone, and so should a painting tool. We aim for PaintGouache to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, and we treat accessibility as part of the product, not an afterthought.

What we do

  • The studio is keyboard-operable, with a clear, high-visibility focus indicator on every interactive element and a skip-to-content link on every page.
  • Text colors are chosen for at least 4.5:1 contrast against the paper background, including the muted label colors.
  • Controls carry screen-reader labels, and painting steps are identified by number and paint name — never by color alone.
  • Touch targets enlarge to finger-friendly sizes on touch devices.
  • Animation respects your reduced motion system setting, and pinch-zoom is never disabled.

The nature of the tool

PaintGouache is built around a visual canvas: judging a photo, a color reduction, or a mix preview is inherently a visual task, and we cannot make the act of seeing color non-visual. What we can do — and work at — is keep every control, setting, and step reachable and understandable by keyboard and screen reader, with text labels carrying the information that the canvas shows visually.

Third-party limitations

A few parts of the experience run outside our code and our control — for example, your browser’s PDF viewer and print dialog, which display the swatch and layer sheets the tool generates. Where we depend on third parties, we choose defaults that keep the core flow accessible.

Tell us where it falls short

If you hit an accessibility barrier anywhere in PaintGouache, please email accessibility@paintgouache.com and tell us what happened and what you were trying to do. We read these and we fix things.
