What PaintGouache is — and is not
PaintGouache is a free tool that converts a photo into a gouache painting plan: a reduced set of paintable colors, a layer order, mixing recipes from the tubes you own, and printable swatch and layer sheets. All of this is computed in your browser, on your device — your photo is never uploaded to our servers.
The plan is a painting aid, not a guarantee. Screens, printers, pigments, papers, and paint brands all vary, so an on-screen preview or a suggested mix is a starting point for your own judgment at the palette — not a promise of what will dry on paper. PaintGouache is not professional art instruction, color-management, or printing advice.
Your photos and your paintings stay yours
We never receive, store, or host your photos, and we claim no rights in them or in any painting or plan you make with the tool. In turn, you are responsible for the images you choose to work from: use only photos you own or have permission to use, and respect the rights of photographers and subjects when you paint from someone else’s work.
Free service, no accounts
PaintGouache is free to use. There are no accounts to create and no payments to make. We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time, and we may impose reasonable technical limits to keep it available to everyone.
Acceptable use
- Use only images you own or are permitted to use.
- No unlawful use of the site or of anything you produce with it.
- No attempts to disrupt, overload, probe, or interfere with the service or its infrastructure.
- No scraping or bulk automated access to the site.
- No representing your output as endorsed by, or produced in partnership with, PaintGouache or Harper AI, Inc.
Disclaimer of warranties
The site is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that color previews, mixing recipes, coverage estimates, or printed sheets will match your physical materials, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, PaintGouache (Harper AI, Inc.) is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site — including wasted paint, paper, or print costs. Your sole and exclusive remedy for any dissatisfaction with the service is to stop using it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we make a material change, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
